Dorothy was always treated as if she were absent by her husband and sister-in-law. Though they were married, it was a chaotic marriage, with the couple never sharing a bed. Dorothy’s family told her that marriage would bring her happiness, but in reality, Dorothy was not happy. She had no idea who this “happiness” was for.
