Chapter 25: (Fina’s Perspective 2)

When I wake up today, I start by making breakfast for Mother and my little sister.

Mother seems to be feeling well today.

My little sister wakes up rubbing her sleepy eyes.

After waiting for both of them to finish eating, I head to the guild.

Fortunately, when I arrive at the guild, I hear that a large number of undecomposed wolves have been brought in.

That means I’ll be getting work today.

I head to the refrigerated storage room in the back of the guild.

The refrigerated storage room is cold.

But it can’t be helped since it’s necessary to keep the meat from spoiling.

Fortunately, there are wolf-fur coats provided in the warehouse.

I borrow one.

It’s a little too big since it’s meant for guild employees.

But that can’t be helped.

At least it’s warm.

When I reach the back of the storage room, I find a pile of wolves stacked up.

I place one of them on the table.

The table is a little too high, so I use my personal platform as a step.

That makes it easier to dismantle the wolf.

I cut open the wolf’s belly with my knife and carefully skin it.

This is a very clean wolf.

The value of the fur differs depending on whether the wolf was killed with repeated attacks or in a single blow.

This wolf was definitely killed in one strike.

It must have been defeated by a very skilled adventurer.

In that case, I can understand why they didn’t bother skinning it before bringing it here.

Lower-ranked adventurers usually process monsters themselves if they want to avoid dismantling fees.

High-ranked adventurers rarely bother earning money by dismantling wolves themselves.

For me, that’s something to be grateful for.

Once the fur is removed, I separate the meat into individual cuts.

This meat will be sold to inns, restaurants, and ordinary households.

The leftover scraps can’t be sold, so I get to keep them.

We’ll be able to eat meat for dinner today.

Thank you, Guild.

Lately, every time I come to the guild, there’s dismantling work waiting for me.

It makes me happy.

The other day, there was even a Goblin King.

Naturally, I’d never dismantled a Goblin King before.

For the sake of learning, I watched the senior guild workers handle it.

Apparently, Goblin Kings are tough.

Their knives barely penetrated its body.

The Goblin King’s body was covered in countless wounds.

I wonder how the person who defeated it attacked.

The front of its body was covered in terrible injuries, but its back was almost untouched.

Did they fight it head-on?

There are some truly amazing adventurers out there.

Today there are wolves to dismantle again.

Apparently, the same adventurer keeps bringing them in.

I heard it’s a girl dressed as a bear.

It was Yuna Big Sister.

It seems Yuna Big Sister has been helping me indirectly.

Today there are also horned rabbits.

Their fur is so fluffy and soft.

I heard their horns can be used in certain medicines.

But that’s outside my area of expertise, so I don’t know much about it.

My job is dismantling.

I separate the fur, horns, and meat.

I’d love to make clothes for my little sister from this fur.

But no matter how much I want it, I would never steal any.

That would betray the trust Gentsu Uncle has placed in me.

Today there is work again.

I’m so happy.

While dismantling wolves, several guild employees are suddenly called away from the warehouse.

From what I hear, a huge quantity of monster materials that haven’t been processed yet has just arrived.

Maybe it’s Yuna Big Sister.

I want to go check.

But I can’t leave my work area.

As I’m dismantling the wolf in front of me, Gentsu Uncle comes over.

Apparently, Yuna Big Sister wants to hire me exclusively to handle her dismantling work.

In the middle of my work, I’m taken to meet Yuna Big Sister.

As long as Yuna Big Sister remains in this town, she’ll be giving me work.

Having a stable source of work makes me really happy.

Since I still have work to do today, we make plans for tomorrow and part ways.

The next day, I wake up early and head to the inn where Yuna Big Sister is staying at the agreed time.

I’m grateful that she’ll be giving me work.

When I arrive at the inn, Yuna Big Sister is eating breakfast.

Maybe I arrived too early.

Yuna Big Sister calls me over and gives me some fruit juice.

It tastes wonderful.

Then we discuss today’s plans.

She asks whether I want to come along or stay behind.

If she’s going into the forest, I want to go with her.

Maybe I can find the medicinal herbs Mother needs.

But if I’d only be a burden, I can stay behind.

Then Yuna Big Sister tells me that protecting someone like me is no problem.

In the end, I get to come with her.

Is that really okay?

When we arrive at the guild, we head toward the request boards.

I wait a little distance away so I won’t get in anyone’s way.

Then Yuna Big Sister gets approached by adventurers again.

Maybe it’s because that bear outfit stands out so much.

Fortunately, nothing happens this time, and the adventurers leave.

That’s a relief.

Yuna Big Sister seems to have chosen a request and heads toward the reception desk.

I ask her what kind of request she accepted.

Then Yuna Big Sister says:

“Subjugation of Tiger Wolves.”

For a moment, I can’t find any words.

I was shocked.

I don’t really know much about it, but aren’t D-rank jobs supposed to be done by parties?

Everyone else seems to form groups when they fight.

I don’t really understand.

Is it really okay for me to tag along on a request like that?
