Chapter 1: Skill “Preparation”

In this world, everyone goes to church when they turn ten.

There, they are granted something called a skill.

It serves to show their aptitude or the path best suited for them, but the skill I received was “Preparation.”

“…Huh?”

I couldn’t help asking back.

My childhood friend Gald got “Swordsman,” didn’t he?

We swore we’d go to the city together and become adventurers.

And mine is “Preparation”?

You know, preparation for cooking and stuff?

God, this is too cruel!

…How uncool.

I can’t even face Gald.

I can hear someone begging, “Buy me a real sword instead of a wooden one.”

Father and Mother said they were relieved it wasn’t a dangerous job.

They talked about how I might be suited for becoming a cook or working in construction.

I want to become an adventurer!

The moment I thought that, one thing after another suddenly came to mind.

When Gald leaves for the city at twelve, I can just go with him.

Until then, I’ll apprentice at the village inn doing odd jobs while learning cooking and efficient travel preparations.

I’ll gather information about different places from the guests staying there… then say I want to train at a restaurant in the city and register at the Adventurer’s Guild.
