Chapter 5: If You Want Me to Accept Your Request, Offer Me Your Body

Today, after school, Yae-chan came over to hang out again.

She mentioned that there were barely any classes left since graduation was coming up.

Oh, my phone is ringing.

When I looked at it, the call wasn’t for me.

Yae-chan started talking to someone.

“Suguru-san, tell her, ‘If you want me to accept your request, offer me your body.'”

With that, she held the phone out to me.

“If you want me to accept your request, offer me your body.”

I repeated exactly what I was told to say.

[“Sure.”]

The voice on the other end belonged to Kasahata-san.

“What did she say?”

“She said okay.”

“Give me the phone.”

When I handed it over, Yae-chan smiled.

“What you just heard was Suguru-san’s joke.”

I guess they’d gotten close enough to joke around.

Yae-chan had told me she had friends, but she came here pretty often.

As an older guy, I was relieved she’d made some.

“Then that’s all.”

Yae-chan ended the call.

“That vixen.”

“So she really was after Suguru-san.”

“What do you mean?”

“It’s nothing.”

“Anyway, a hundred-million-yen job just came in.”

“Huh? A hundred million?”

I was speechless.

She meant one hundred million yen, right?

Not one hundred million pesos.

Though even that would be a huge amount of money.

To calm myself down, I checked my streaming channel on my phone.

The subscriber count was skyrocketing.

At the same time, the comments section was overflowing with messages telling me to die.

What happened?

The hundred million yen was important, but I was more concerned about the outrage.

“My channel is in serious trouble.”

“Professor Yae will investigate the cause.”

“Let’s see… looks like it was because of that one thing you said earlier.”

“One thing?”

“The ‘offer me your body’ line.”

“They streamed that phone call on the Dragon Slayer channel.”

“What? Why would they do that?”

“Probably payback for the joke.”

Come on.

I know I was in the wrong, but that’s a little harsh.

“Right.”

“What was that hundred-million-yen job?”

“It sounds like they want you to explore a dungeon with them.”

“They said the contract period would be one month.”

“That’s a pretty sweet deal.”

“They don’t mind if it’s my backyard dungeon, right?”

“They said the location is up to you.”

“And just so you know, I’m coming too.”

“Dungeons are dangerous.”

“I’ll follow whatever instructions I’m given.”

“If it’s my dungeon, then I guess it’s okay.”

“I’ve never really been injured in there anyway.”

Thirty minutes later, Kasahata-san arrived.

“Well then, let’s do a quick test run.”

“I haven’t mentally prepared myself yet…”

Kasahata-san seemed hesitant.

She’s cautious.

“I’m ready whenever.”

“It’s only an F-rank dungeon.”

“Someone like Kasahata-san could probably clear it while picking her nose.”

“In that case…”

The three of us entered the dungeon together.

“Over there is the first weak enemy, a slime.”

“Huh?”

“That’s different from a normal slime.”

Kasahata-san looked surprised.

“It’s just a regular slime.”

“It looks dangerous because you’re scared of it.”

Is it really different?

I’d seen pictures in monster encyclopedias, and it looked the same to me.

“Tell me its characteristics.”

“If you hit it once, it runs away.”

“If you corner it, it spits a vicious acid.”

“How strong is the acid?”

“Strong enough to melt the dungeon.”

“No way.”

“I don’t believe it.”

“Dungeons are supposed to be indestructible.”

“That would make it equivalent to an S-rank monster.”

“I watched your videos.”

“It didn’t seem that strong.”

“You’re too worried, old lady.”

“Who are you calling an old lady?”

“I’m not that much older than you.”

“I’m guessing you’re in your late twenties.”

“I’m still in my late teens.”

“That’s almost a whole decade apart.”

“Both of you, no fighting.”

“Defeating it is easy.”

“If you hit it once, it runs away.”

“So don’t chase it.”

“It becomes dangerous if cornered.”

“Though someone like Kasahata-san might have no trouble.”

“Let’s try it first.”

“Infernal Flame.”

A fireball about a meter wide appeared and flew toward the slime.

The fireball struck the slime.

The slime immediately fled.

“I used my strongest spell.”

“And it wasn’t injured at all.”

“I’ll show you how it’s done.”

I walked toward the slime.

Then I started beating it relentlessly.

“No way.”

“In the stream footage it only looked like around thirty hits.”

“But you struck it over a hundred times.”

“If you shake its brain like this, it gets so dizzy that it can’t run away or counterattack.”

“And then it’s the end.”

The slime leaked bodily fluids and died.

Its magic stone and core shattered into pieces.

“I knew it.”

“Judging from the fragments, the original size of this magic stone was S-rank.”

This slime is S-rank?

What is she talking about?

Sure, its acid is powerful, but it’s weak.

“Rapid strikes might be difficult for girls.”

“I’ll support you, so try hitting it first.”

Kasahata-san went first.

She gripped a spare iron pipe and swung it at a slime.

I predicted the route it would take when fleeing and waited there, unleashing a barrage of strikes.

The slime died.

“Landing a single hit is easy enough.”

“Wait a second.”

Kasahata-san took out some kind of magical tool.

“No way.”

“My level increased.”

“It actually increased even though I only landed one hit before it ran away.”

“Can I measure your level for a moment?”

“I don’t mind.”

“No way.”

“It says your level is 10,834.”

“The device must be broken.”

“Even I’m only level 38.”

“Suguru is amazing.”

“I knew it all along.”

“Yeah, yeah.”

“Levels are just decoration.”

“Proof of that is how much I still struggle against lizards.”

“Okay, Yae-chan, your turn.”

“Take this!”

I beat up the slime that had fled.

Meanwhile, Kasahata-san was measuring Yae-chan’s level.

“It went from 1 to 7.”

“From a single hit.”

“I’m done being surprised.”

“No one would believe how incredible this dungeon is.”

“Is it really that incredible?”

“It’s only an F-rank dungeon.”

“What exactly did you tell the Association when you registered it?”

“I want to hear that story too.”

“Well then, I suppose I’ll tell you.”
