Chapter 10: The Bear Goes to the Weapon Shop

Before having Fina guide me, I check my status.

I feel like I leveled up after that fight with the adventurers.

My Bear Punch definitely got stronger.

Name: Yuna
Age: 15
Level: 8
Skills: Otherworld Language, Otherworld Text, Bear Dimensional Box, Bear Appraisal Eye

Equipment
Black Bear Hands (Non-transferable)
White Bear Hands (Non-transferable)
Black Bear Feet (Non-transferable)
White Bear Feet (Non-transferable)
Bear Suit (Non-transferable)
Bear Underwear (Non-transferable)

As expected, my level has gone up.

And I’ve gained another weird skill.

Bear Appraisal Eye

The bear eyes on the hood can see the effects of tools and weapons.

Only works when the hood is worn.

This is suuuper useful, but…

Why does the bear get new skills when I level up?!

At this rate, if I want to survive in this world, I might have to wear this bear outfit forever.

“Yuna onee-chan?”

“Ah, sorry. It’s nothing. Let’s go.”

Fina leads me to the weapon shop.

“What kind of weapon are you going to buy, Yuna onee-chan?”

“Hmm, I haven’t decided yet, but I want a sword and a knife for now.”

“Come to think of it, you don’t have a weapon?”

“I do. (A wooden stick.)”

“Right. No one would walk through the forest without a weapon. Then why go to a weapon shop?”

“W-well, maybe there’ll be a hidden gem. Or I might find something that suits me. So what kind of shop are we going to?”

Secret technique: change the subject when in trouble.

“It’s a weapon shop run by Gord.”

“Gord?”

“He manages the weapons stored at the guild. The knife I have was given by him.”

“He gave it to you? He sounds nice.”

“He said, ā€˜This is trash. Take it.’”

Tsundere?

“And when I go to check weapons, he sharpens my knife too, saying ā€˜while I’m at it.’”

Definitely tsundere.

“We’re here.”

Fina stops in front of a building.

There’s a sign with a sword on it.

I wonder if they sell armor.

As we approach, I hear clanging sounds from inside.

Probably forging weapons.

We enter the shop with Fina leading.

A short girl greets us.

In a weapon shop, that usually means a dwarf… maybe?

“Oh, Fina, welcome. Did you come to sharpen your knife?”

“No, I’m guiding Yuna onee-chan. She wants a weapon, so I brought her to meet Gord.”

“Oh, you brought a customer? Thank you.”

“Yuna onee-chan, this is Gord’s wife, Nelt.”

Yep, definitely a dwarf.

Or… a very suspicious adult.

“Did you just look at me strangely?”

“No, I was just wondering if you’re a dwarf.”

“That’s right. Never seen one before?”

“No, it’s my first time.”

So it’s legit.

No crimes here.

Though certain people would be very happy.

“Well then, it can’t be helped. You’re a strange-looking girl.”

“I’m Yuna. Nice to meet you.”

“So, what kind of weapon do you want?”

“I haven’t decided yet. Can I look around?”

“A beginner, huh? Of course. My husband’s busy, so you can’t meet him, but feel free to browse.”

The clanging continues from the back.

Fina looks a bit disappointed.

She probably wanted to see him.

I start browsing the weapons.

I pick up a nearby sword.

It’s not… heavy?

Because of the bear?

I try removing the gloves.

Yep, can’t use it.

I can lift it, but swinging is impossible.

I put the gloves back on.

Light…

I can’t live without the bear anymore.

I try using Bear Appraisal Eye.

Iron Sword, Skill: None

I check others.

Copper Sword, Skill: None

Iron Sword, Skill: None

Looks like a standard iron sword shop.

No junk, but no rare finds either.

No legendary rusty sword, sadly.

I pick one that feels easy to handle.

Iron Sword, Skill: None

I can’t tell the difference, so I choose this one.

“I’d also like to see knives.”

“For skinning?”

“That too, but throwing knives.”

I want to throw them instead of stones.

“Do you have a hundred?”

“A hundred?”

“If not, I’ll take whatever you have.”

“We do, but wait a moment. I’ll get them. But do you really need that many?”

“They seem useful for hunting monsters.”

“That’s a lot, even if they’re cheap.”

“They’re cheap?”

“Throwing knives are usually disposable. Made from scrap iron. Think about it—during a fight in the forest, you won’t always recover them. So they’re treated as expendable. That’s why I asked if they were for skinning. Of course, we also have combat knives.”

She explains everything carefully.

Very helpful.

“Then I’ll take a skinning knife too.”

Not sure I’ll use it, but just in case.

“Got it.”

She brings out a sturdier knife.

I buy it anyway.

“That’ll be…”

I pay using the bear storage.

She doesn’t question it.

She brings the knives in batches.

“When will you pick them up?”

“I’ll take them now.”

I store all hundred knives in the bear’s mouth.

Then the sword and skinning knife.

“That bear… is it an item bag?”

“Item bag?”

I tilt my head.

“It’s a bag that can store items. The capacity varies. Merchants and craftsmen use them a lot.”

“Are they rare?”

“You really don’t know anything, do you?”

“I got this from someone I know… so I don’t know much.”

“You’ve got a generous acquaintance. They’re not rare, but the value depends on capacity. Still, I’ve never seen one shaped like a bear.”

Does this bear have a limit?

If it does, I’ll just buy another bag.

“But Yuna onee-chan, if you had that, why didn’t you use it for the wolves?”

Ah…

“I was lost and panicking, so I forgot.”

That’s my excuse.

Not entirely a lie.

After buying the sword and knives, we leave the shop.

Next, I need to buy clothes.

Especially underwear.
