Chapter 1: Characters -1
Spoilers ahead!!
Albertina von Lattiche (Sandis)
A modern Japanese woman reincarnated as the villainess of the otome game “Kimi ni Koishite.”
She remembers the knowledge, but recalls very little about herself as an individual.
She has loosely waving black hair and green eyes.
A shade called Sandis Green, said to be the royal color.
Evergreen.
A deep green.
A peerless beautiful young girl, whose maternal grandmother was a royal princess.
A duke’s daughter.
The original Albel was the embodiment of cruel and inhumane elitism.
She chose no means, greedy, unrestrained, and vicious.
She even brandished her position against the royal family, using her childhood kidnapping as a shield.
She had been the fiancée of the First Prince and relentlessly bullied her stepbrother and stepmother.
This Albel, however, suffers from an extreme father complex and is an excessively sheltered young lady.
She is an ignorant shut-in, yet faithful to her desires and recreates modern conveniences by throwing money at them.
As a result, “Under the Rose” became the most popular brand in Sandis.
The ideas Albel produces are commercialized by Julius and handled by the Rose Trading Company.
She is fundamentally awkward and incompetent in romance.
Optimistic, tolerant toward those she trusts, and extremely easy to deceive.
The people around her develop headaches from dealing with her.
She cannot be allowed outside.
She is rather dreamy, but more than that, she fears the people precious to her within her narrow world getting hurt.
Due to the trauma of being stuffed into a box during her kidnapping, she dislikes dark places and confined spaces.
She is severely shy and shows signs of fear toward men.
She bears a scar on her back and is considered defective as a noble lady, though her bloodline is of the highest class.
She is aware that her childhood friends and stepbrother have feelings for her.
However, due to the forced nature of the game’s scenario and her extreme lack of confidence in herself, she rejects them.
If possible, she wishes they would meet wonderful people elsewhere and have safe and beautiful encounters.
But honestly, if asked which man she loves most regardless of category, she would immediately answer “Father.”
And the aforementioned demon-king-like father-in-law who would marry into Albel is unbelievably devoted to his daughter.
When her Royal Eyes and barrier magic were discovered by the royal family and the Council of Elders, she became Crown Princess and took the name Albertina von Lattiche Sandis.
Because there are extremely few royals—especially young ones—who possess the Royal Eyes, conflict arose over candidates for Prince Consort.
In order to prevent her bloodline from being exploited, she requested three trustworthy men to become her consorts.
After Grail’s death, the shock made her unable to deploy her barrier.
Not only that, but abnormalities in her magical power increased the burden on her body, making her even frailer and causing a condition that steadily consumes her life.
She had always drifted along with circumstances, but at last she resolved not to endure, but to resist.
She swore revenge.
Later, it was revealed to have been arranged by Grail.
Naturally, she was furious.
Grail von Lattiche
He has bright ash-brown hair and aqua-blue eyes.
He is Albertina’s father.
He deeply loved Albertina’s late biological mother, Christina, and dotes excessively on his only beloved daughter left behind.
His affection is so heavy that those around him describe it as suffocating.
He is the head of a great ducal house and the Marshal of the Kingdom of Sandis.
His highest-ranking title is Duke of Lattiche, but he also holds and manages numerous others, including Marquess of Coral, Count of Fendel, Viscount Medici, and Baron Bene.
He is extremely capable, but merciless toward everyone except Albel.
He is first-class in swordsmanship, magic, politics, and military strategy, yet he is also inhuman.
He has no desire for wealth or promotion and is fundamentally uninterested in almost everything.
His detached nature and coldness, combined with affection focused intensely on only a very small circle, make him difficult for others to understand.
Because of his cruelty, he is even called the Demon King.
As Albel’s father, he is also a peerless beauty.
He appears to be only in his late twenties.
Due to the shock of Albel’s kidnapping, his beloved wife passed away, and his cherished daughter suffered a fatal injury as a noble lady, which has caused some friction between him and the royal family.
Christina’s birth family is the Fortuna Ducal House, one of the Four Great Ducal Houses.
Originally, she had been engaged to a royal, but Grail stole her away through a duel in what was an intensely romantic marriage.
However, because of that forcefulness, relations with the Fortuna Ducal House are poor.
<The following contains spoilers>
He lost his life protecting Albertina during a monster attack orchestrated by Renalia.
More than anyone, he wishes for Albertina’s happiness.
Afterward, his severed head was taken as collateral by Marquess Maximilian and used as material to threaten Albertina.
Although there were various unexpected developments, his death was staged, a plan to punish the corrupt elders of Sandis and a stalker spanning three generations.
Though there were some unforeseen circumstances, he revived from the brink of death exactly as planned.
If it is for Albel, he will do anything.
He truly will.
He transferred his title and lands to Kisthalia, but due to an unprecedented manpower shortage, he returned.
In order to support Lauzes and protect Albertina, he became Chancellor.
His personality has issues, but he is capable and the type to take his work seriously.
Christina von Lattiche
She had loosely waving black hair and Sandis Green eyes.
She is also the source of Albertina’s beauty.
She married into the Lattiche family from the Fortuna Ducal House in an intensely romantic marriage.
Her health was not very strong, and after Albel’s kidnapping, she passed away prematurely from shock.
<The following contains spoilers>
At the time of Albel’s kidnapping, she had been pregnant with a second child but miscarried.
She inherited her beauty from her mother, Sistina, and received marriage proposals from various places in high society.
One of them was Cody.
Even after being taken by Grail, he persistently pursued her and ultimately cornered Christina to the point of driving her to death.
Kisthalia von Lattiche
He has slightly wavy ash-brown hair and aqua-blue eyes.
He was taken in from a baronial branch family of Lattiche.
In his birth home, he was treated coldly because he was the child of a mistress.
His immense magical power caught attention, and he was brought into the ducal house and became the heir of Lattiche.
In the original story, he was relentlessly bullied by Albel, had his virginity taken, and his mother was driven to suicide.
The current Albel, his stepsister, is an extremely shy and breathtakingly beautiful girl, so she causes no harm.
Rather, the dangerous one is his stepfather.
Instead, he ends up supporting his fluffy, purely raised stepsister.
Despite everything, he is soft on Albel.
While taking care of his worldly-ignorant stepsister, he became emotionally attached and began to dote on her.
Her overwhelming beauty stole his first love, and ordinary beauties no longer stir his heart.
He is so twisted that he wishes Albel would never marry and would remain in the Lattiche family for life.
It remains an eternal mystery why Albertina, who was raised by that Demon King and shares half his blood, turned out to be such a soft and fluffy noble lady.
A mystery that will never be solved.
As he grows up, he becomes a sweet-faced noble prince.
However, he is something beyond a severe sister complex.
He excels academically at the academy, and noble ladies constantly cast passionate gazes at him in high society, yet he has no fiancée.
He has no intention of getting one either.
Though he appears composed, he is obsessive in love and prepared for a long-term battle.
However, because of his youth, he sometimes rushes headlong into things.
He teased the innocent and inexperienced Albel too much and was beaten by his biological mother, Latine.
After Grail’s sudden death, branch families began making suspicious moves to eliminate the young Kisthalia, making his position complicated and keeping him extremely busy.
In his mind, his completely twisted first love and his position as head of the house and candidate for Prince Consort are fully compatible, so he is highly motivated.
Albertina wishes for him to become the head of the Lattiche house, and having been rigorously trained by Grail for many years, he has the capability.
Frankly, given Albertina’s overwhelming popularity within the territory and the legitimacy of his bloodline, there could be no better match as her spouse.
Since their family’s angel was taken by the royal family, the household staff, who know Albertina’s delicate and gentle nature, are also cooperative.
Michaelis is a same-generation head and heir, as well as a childhood friend and rival.
Julius is both a servant and bad friend, and also a rival.
The childhood trio are secretly the most extreme.
Anyone who insults his stepsister will be crushed someday.
After many twists and turns, he became Duke of Lattiche.
He is extremely busy.
Julius von Fortuna (Julius Fran)
A servant with purple eyes and black hair.
Glasses are standard equipment.
He is a super servant who can handle anything flawlessly, but at times he is politely insolent toward Albel.
Albel likes him including that aspect.
He cooperates with Albel, who casually spills modern knowledge.
He is extremely interested, but does not reveal his inner thoughts.
As he grows, he becomes an intellectual handsome man, but since he rarely shows what he is thinking, he comes across as slightly suspicious.
He also serves as Albertina’s bodyguard, so he is highly skilled.
He is good at brewing tea, to the point that Albel gives it her seal of excellence.
In the original work, Albel forced him to handle all the dirty work.
With the current Albel, he is lively and energetic, having her launch new businesses like a corporate slave.
He disliked Albel before the kidnapping, but the current Albel is a lovable incompetent, and he has become emotionally attached to her, leaving him holding his head in frustration.
For the sake of his goals, he does not choose his means, and would even make a deal with the devil.
He has no problem using a honey trap.
He is of lower nobility and has obtained the rank of Viscount, but deliberately did not receive territory.
There is something he wants, so he aims to rise further in rank.
His family crest is an extremely adorable male long-tailed tit.
Through his ability to consolidate Albel’s business ventures, although he holds no land, he has certain authority over stores in commercial districts connected to the Lattiche ducal house.
His ability is impeccable, but his bloodline and family status are a drawback, so in order to become a candidate for Prince Consort, he entered the Fortuna ducal house as an adopted son.
By becoming a ducal heir, he is now able to openly take care of Albertina while engaging in business.
Instead of the other two being dragged around by subjugations, expeditions, and their duties as heads or heirs of noble houses, he builds achievements as Albertina’s close aide while aiming for the position of Prince Consort.
Despite the difference in status, he shares a relationship with Kisthalia and Michaelis as co-conspirators, friends, and rivals.
He is the strategist of the childhood trio.
He possesses various information networks and is well-versed in shady information as well.
Michaelis von Dimitrias
He has red hair and red eyes.
He is extremely vivid and striking.
A gentleman like the model of a knight.
He is usually calm and somewhat taciturn, but passionate on the inside.
He was Count Dimitrias and later became Margrave.
He is a hard worker who nearly had his house taken over by his uncle and aunt during childhood.
In the original work, his clumsiness caused a rift with his younger sister Jibril, and his father died young, causing great hardship.
His honest clumsiness remains, but he gets along well with his sister.
Through cooperation with the Lattiche ducal house, a large resort facility was built in his territory.
His father, who had been severely weakened by illness, recovered completely while living at the resort.
He passed the headship to his son, who is better at managing the territory, and now works while enjoying life at the resort with his wife.
His swordsmanship is top-class, and due to his beauty he is called the Rose Knight and the Crimson Count.
He is a childhood friend of Albel and the others, and has carried his first love for a long time without taking a fiancée.
His excessive shyness causes his sister Jibril great frustration.
However, he is actually passionate, so he clearly expresses his feelings.
The problem lies in the recipient’s hopeless incompetence in romance.
After Grail’s death, he began leading expeditions in his place and was promoted in rank.
At the Fortress of Greglmy, he learned of Renalia’s schemes and was greatly angered, though he protected the beastfolk.
He is extremely affectionate toward those he considers family, and because the Lattiche father and daughter supported him during his impoverished childhood, he feels deep gratitude toward them, treating them as more than family in a sense.
He deeply loves Albertina romantically and will accept even somewhat unreasonable demands.
However, because he knows her too well, he holds no anger or resentment.
Rather, he is happy that she relied on him.
Still, he worried about the circumstances that led to that point.
His suspicion turned out to be correct in the worst possible way, that Grail’s corpse was being used as a hostage.
He was genuinely furious.
Grail is his benefactor, his teacher in swordsmanship, magic, business, and more, and the father of the woman he loves, making their relationship too complex to fit into a single category.
He gets along well enough with Kisthalia and Julius, but often ends up being assigned the short end of the stick.
He is the conscience of the childhood trio.
But when he gets angry, he is surely terrifying.
Due to his brilliant track record, he is regarded as a leading candidate for First Prince Consort.
Jibril von Dimitrias
The daughter of Count Dimitrias.
A beautiful girl with red hair and red eyes.
She has a slender body.
She is a lively beauty who calls Albel “Onee-sama” and adores her.
She is the type who does not hesitate to use her fists in a fight.
In the original work, she had a complex about her dazzling brother, but this version of Jibril is action-oriented to the point that even her brother is overwhelmed.
She is a rising flower of high society.
Anyone who is an enemy of her beloved sister should die.
Anyone who is an enemy of her brother will be beaten.
She also practices swordsmanship and is quite skilled.
Her personality is more manly than many men.
She believes she is putting on a cat-like façade in front of Albel, but her true nature frequently slips out.
Albel, who dotes excessively on her cute little sister figure, accepts her generously.
She brushes off even her brother Michaelis’s criticisms casually, but listens quite obediently when Albel scolds her.
The only person she truly fears and respects is Grail.
He is scarier than her parents, her brother, or even the king.
Albertina stands at the very top in a separate category altogether.
She loves her Onee-sama.
Her Onee-sama is her admiration.
Her Onee-sama is justice.
She frequently becomes irritated at the spineless men who fail to win her over.
If Albel were not present, she would casually hurl insults like “Drop dead.”
She is strong.
Her fists are powerful enough to make the male members of the childhood trio tremble.
If she were a man, she would undoubtedly have been the hero of this story.
She is currently searching for a fiancé.
She desires a man of reasonable strength who will not harm her precious Onee-sama, but…
Latine von Lattiche
A slender beauty with brown hair and aqua-blue eyes.
She is Albel’s stepmother and Grail’s second wife.
She was taken in along with Kisthalia, as she is Kisthalia’s biological mother.
Because of her beauty, she had originally been forced into becoming the mistress of a certain impoverished noble.
Now she is called the flower of high society, a duchess who stays ahead of trends.
Her marriage to her husband is purely formal.
As business partners, however, they are excellent.
Recently, she finds her daughter more adorable than her son.
Even if she is a stepdaughter, a cute child is still cute.
She is part of the Albel extremist faction.
She is actually extremely strong on her feet, and her kicks are powerful enough to snap high heels.
She mainly displays this during lectures aimed at Kisthalia, and the terror of it is enough to make servants and butlers flee, while her husband, the Demon King Duke, pretends not to see and walks away.
Since Grail’s death, she has been protecting the Lattiche ducal residence.
<Spoiler>
She was genuinely furious when Grail faked his death.
More than her capable yet troublesome husband, she treasures her adorable stepdaughter, a true heroine in her own right.
Anna White
A maid with brown hair and brown eyes who serves Albertina.
She is quiet and strong-willed.
She is like the model of a perfect maid and follows Albel like a shadow.
She is the only one allowed to assist Albertina with changing clothes and bathing.
Her original blend of herbal tea can impress even Albel, who has refined tastes.
She is deeply trusted by Albertina and is acknowledged by both herself and others as her closest confidante.
Her motto is “That my lady may live peaceful, healthy, and happy days.”
She is fiercely loyal and would not hesitate to give her life to protect Albertina.
She is part of the Albel extremist faction.
She is diligent in disciplining Chappy and Honey.
Even Honey, who tends to choose people carefully, acknowledges her, not just the crybaby Chappy.
She occasionally harbors murderous intent toward her former colleague Julius.
That has not changed even after he became a ducal heir.
She was assigned to serve at the detached palace of Vayu, but continues to devote herself as Albertina’s exclusive maid.
Sebas Tian
An elderly man with neatly combed gray-silver hair.
He is Grail’s butler.
A man who has endured much hardship.
Though middle-aged, like Julius, he is a servant capable of fighting.
Because Grail is the way he is, the gently raised and lovable young lady is a source of healing.
He actually possesses an extraordinarily beautiful voice and is famous among voice enthusiasts.
Albel even begs him to read books aloud because his voice is so attractive.
While investigating suspicious movements of the Maximilian family, he headed to the Lattiche mausoleum and disappeared.
His carriage was discovered having fallen, and given the circumstances, survival seemed hopeless, but he returned like a phoenix.
In truth, he had been working behind the scenes.
He is a prime example of how difficult it is to serve a demanding master.
<Spoiler>
Under Grail’s orders, he acted as a double agent to eliminate Cody.
He fed Lattiche information to Cody to gain his trust, then betrayed him at the critical moment.
Though he followed Grail’s orders, he was deeply enraged at how Albel and Kisthalia had been treated.
Being able to kick Cody before his execution brought him a small measure of satisfaction.
Raven
A foreign-looking boy with black hair, black eyes, and slightly dark skin.
He is Albel’s servant but is not very sensitive to emotional subtleties.
His combat ability is outstanding.
Because of his small frame, Albel dotes on him.
Occasionally, he is beaten by immature seniors.
He feels something strange about being cherished like a younger brother by his young lady, but it is not unpleasant.
During Lucas’s assault, he was absent because he had gone to fetch flowers for Albel.
As punishment for that, he was subjected to “re-education.”
He then returned as the ducal house’s “Shadow.”
During re-education, he grew significantly taller and now appears as a young man.
He now protects Albel from the shadows.
Sometimes Anna makes him run errands.
Ordinarily, he would have been executed immediately, but due to Albel’s earnest plea, he was given another chance.
He currently serves as the final line of defense, quietly protecting Albel from the shadows.
Because his height increased so rapidly, his appearance differs greatly from before, though his personality has not changed much.
He has renewed his vow to protect Lady Albel this time without fail.
He admires Albel purely, without ulterior motives.
He is part of the Albel extremist faction.
That he is a serious devotee goes without saying.
He is actually of the Moon Wolf tribe, but because his eyes did not turn gold, he was abandoned as an incomplete “New Moon” and sold to slave traders, where Grail picked him up.
Having never known familial affection, he hungers for it.
He instinctively feels Albertina’s unconditional love and harbors emotions akin to those of a younger brother or even a child toward an older sister or mother.
Some sharp-eyed individuals do not view Raven as a man and instead regard him with caution.
That is why Grail, Anna, Sebas, and Latine are somewhat careless in their perception of Albertina and Raven as a pair in terms of gender.
In the original work, he belonged to the “Death Merchant” as a master assassin named “Crowley.”
In the game, his hair was white and his eyes were gold, so he did not fall under Renalia’s information network.
That version was an alternate possibility in which he was never needed by Albel, never picked up by anyone, and spent his days fighting.
Crowley was a broken existence who knew neither love nor affection and did not even realize he longed for them.
In this work, Raven is treated by Albel as both her guard and her cute kitten, albeit a giant one.
He is immature for his age, but his emotions have grown properly.
He is earnest and straightforward.
